A 14 ft × 12 ft room with an 8 ft ceiling has a 52 ft perimeter and 416 ft² of gross wall area before subtracting doors and windows.

Ceiling height is a vertical measurement from finished floor to finished ceiling. Measure it directly where possible; the calculator uses that height with room length and width to calculate wall area and volume.
An 8-foot ceiling is nominally 96 inches from finished floor to finished ceiling. Real buildings can vary, so measure the room if material quantities depend on it.
Height is a linear dimension. In this room calculator, height is an input used in wall area and volume formulas rather than something inferred from floor area alone.
