Core unit relationships
Exact length conversions use established definitions, including 1 yard = 3 feet and 1 foot = 12 inches. Area conversions square the corresponding length relationship, so 1 square yard = 9 square feet and 1 square yard = 1,296 square inches.
Area, volume and material formulas
Rectangular area is length × width. Rectangular volume is length × width × depth. Circular and triangular tools use their standard geometric formulas. Bulk-material weight is calculated from volume × the density selected or entered by the user.
Rounding and purchasing
Intermediate calculations use unrounded numeric values where practical, while displayed results are rounded for readability. Discrete purchases such as bags, boxes and sheets are rounded up because a fraction of a package normally cannot be purchased.
Variable assumptions
Density, waste, compaction, coverage, price and regional-unit factors are not universal. Tools expose those values when they materially affect the result. Defaults are planning aids, not supplier guarantees.

Measurement relationships are checked against authoritative references such as the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Product-specific yields should be verified against the manufacturer or supplier documentation for the product actually being used.
